❇ Snowmen in a Jar ❆

If you're the type of person who goes around singing "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" all winter, now you can preserve your snowmen until the spring thaw.  And even if you don't like snow, you can't help but love these snowmen in a jar for winter decorating. In keeping with the "Canning Jar Week" on Farm Chick Chit Chat this week, I offer this decorating idea.  After all, like it or not, winter is just around the corner.

The beauty of this craft is it doesn't have to cost you anything.  Use what you have! I used some canning jars that I had on my canning shelf.  These are a generic brand, which is great because they are smooth glass and don't have a raised insignia on them.  You can use whatever empty jars you have. I had some vintage aluminum canning lids which I used for mine, but use what you have.  It's easy too. I put these together in 20 minutes.

First wash and dry the jars.  Put a little piece of cotton in the bottom--just a little, or the cotton will puff up and tumble your decorations. You could also use cloth or fake snow. I pulled out a box of winter decorations and fingered through it looking for little snowmen and other small wintry odds and ends that I thought would look cute in a "winter scene."  I found a couple of cloth snowmen and a wooden one.  I also found little snow covered pine trees, sprigs of berries, and tiny pine cones. Arrange them in the jars, screw on the lids, and you're done! Your snowmen are preserved for as long as you want. (They make great gifts too!)
